Bali has been identified as one of the premier wedding destinations globally in 2024.

A Bounce survey indicates that the “Island of the Gods” remains an idyllic choice for couples looking to wed in a paradisiacal setting.

Although Lake Como in Tuscany, Italy, edged out Bali for the top position, Bali secured a commendable second place with a score of 8.9/10, according to Bounce.

Tourism Minister speaks about Bali’s appeal

Tourism Minister Sandiaga Uno has consistently expressed his desire to position Bali as a leading wedding venue. The island’s appeal is evident.

Bali is already a well-known entity among wedding planners for its iconic allure. It boasts extensive facilities to host beautiful weddings that cater to various budgets and preferences. Among these are options to rent a villa in Bali, providing a private and luxurious celebration setting. The villas and properties in Bali are also built with sustainability in mind.

Minister Uno has a specific interest in attracting Indian tourists for weddings. He points out that Bali villas are perfect for hosting weddings, combining luxury with the stunning backdrop of Bali’s natural beauty.

With over 1.3 million posts on Instagram tagged #BaliWedding, there is no shortage of ideas online for crafting the perfect wedding day.

Minister Uno noted in conversations with the press that “Indian couples who got married in Bali found it appealing not just for its landscape and culture, but crucially because it was more cost-effective for them.”

He mentioned that while large Indian weddings can include up to 5,000 guests, Bali allows for more budget-friendly celebrations tailored to the couple’s and their guests’ preferences. Bali long-term villa rentals offer a practical solution for those planning longer stays or multiple events.

Minister Uno stated, “The Indian couples who got married in Indonesia are among the tourists from India who, in 2023, were the second largest group visiting Bali, following Australian tourists.”

Excellent settings

Bali’s idyllic setting, excellent hospitality, affordability, and comprehensive wedding packages make it attractive for wedding planning.

Typically, international couples handle the legal aspects of their marriage in their home country before or after celebrating in Bali, where they hold a ceremonial event with vows and blessings. Many choose to celebrate in one of the many Bali villa rentals available.

Wedding packages in Bali vary widely, from budget-friendly elopements to elaborate celebrations. They include venue rental, accommodation, event planning, catering, and evening entertainment, as reported by Australia’s Real Weddings. Specifically, Bali villas for rent offer diverse options for every taste and budget.

For those looking for a unique wedding venue, the community of Pelaga Village has recently offered their Nungnung Waterfall for ceremonies.

Located 34km from Ubud, the breathtaking waterfall provides an intimate setting for a nature-inspired wedding that also supports the local community in Bali.

In a discussion with journalists, Sang Nyoman Sutena, 60, leader of the Nungnung Traditional Village, expressed his community’s commitment to enhancing the site’s appeal to marrying couples.

He aims to incorporate elements of Balinese culture, including local dances and music, into weddings held at Nungnung Waterfall.

Sutena confirmed that while couples are welcome to have ceremonies at the waterfall that reflect their traditions, arrangements can be made for traditional Balinese blessings post-vows, although not for traditional Balinese-Hindu wedding ceremonies.

Couples from Spain, South Korea, and Russia have chosen Nungnung Waterfall as their wedding location, highlighting its growing popularity.
